About the Author
Ron Fitzgerald has over 50 years of experience as a teacher, school superintendent, state director of educational research, and multi-state consultant on brain-friendly learning and quality in the classroom. He is the author of a handbook for teachers entitled SMART TEACHING: USING BRAIN RESEARCH AND DATA TO CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVE LEARNING, published by The American Society for Quality. He maintains a free web site of resources for teachers at www.SuccessInTeaching.info.
Ron Fitzgerald received his doctorate from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. While a superintendent, he and his staff implemented brain-friendly teaching and learning techniques in a 16-community high school. Students as well as staff members were trained to use the techniques. The school became well known for increasing student motivation and achievement. Dr. Fitzgerald has taught college courses on brain-friendly teaching and provided workshops on the topic to teachers in 16 different states.
